Aboriginal Business Engagement

We encourage you to take a few minutes to complete our new Aboriginal Engagement Survey, developed by Cassidy McGuire, who recently joined our Executive Committee as our Aboriginal Business Engagement representative.

This survey will help the Chamber build a clearer picture of how member businesses currently engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and businesses, including employment, recruitment, working relationships and procurement.

Your input will help BGCCI better understand perceptions, experiences and challenges, and identify practical ways we can support members to build respectful, inclusive and mutually beneficial relationships, while ensuring the Chamber is a welcoming and relevant place for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses.

All responses are anonymous, and each response will directly inform our future work in this space.

Bunbury Geographe CCI facilitates the Working Together project in the South West, funded by the Department of Workforce Training and Development. It's objective is to expand employment, training, work experience and mentorship opportunities for local Aboriginal people.

Working Together is a dedicated service to provide information, support and advice to business owners and employers in the South West to attract, recruit and retain Aboriginal employees in a culturally safe work environment. Working Together collaborates with local schools, employment service providers (job actives) and the Jobs and Skills Centre.

Bunbury Geographe CCI partners with Yaka Dandjoo in the Year 12 Shining Stars Graduation, which provides an evening for Indigenous year 12 students to celebrate their completion of high school with community & their families. This event is proudly sponsored by businesses in the region to allow students and families to attend at no-cost.

We also run regular cultural training and upskilling workshops to help businesses be a safe cultural space, and engage their Aboriginal employees.

Jobs Board: If you’re looking for an Indigenous employee, or employees, there’s no better place to advertise your vacancy than the Indigenous Services jobs board. As a registered employer, this completely free service lets you create your own job advertisements and post them to the jobs board.
