Miral Fahmy is an accomplished international journalist and editor with more than 30 years of experience across global newsrooms. Over the course of her career at Reuters News Agency, she has held senior roles spanning Asia Pacific and the Middle East, including Publishing Editor, Lead Writer for South Asia, Learning Editor for Asia Pacific, and Senior Correspondent in the Gulf and Levant regions.
Her work has taken her across the world — from Egypt, Libya, and Syria to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan — where she has covered major political, financial, and social developments, including the U.S.-led war on Iraq, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and the aftermath of September 11. Miral has also played a pivotal role in establishing Reuters’ lifestyle and entertainment news service in the region, shaping how human-interest and cultural stories are told to a global audience.
Beyond her editorial expertise, Miral is a coach and mentor certified by the Institute of Executive Coaching & Leadership, passionate about developing others’ communication, leadership, and storytelling skills. She has designed and led learning workshops across Asia Pacific, guiding journalists and editors in writing excellence and multimedia storytelling.
Educated at the American University in Cairo, where she graduated with highest honours in Mass Communication and a minor in English and Comparative Literature, Miral combines intellectual depth with practical insight. Fluent in English and Arabic, with working knowledge of French, she brings a global outlook, cultural empathy, and exceptional interpersonal skills to every role she undertakes.
