This morning our Women in Business Portfolio welcomed 50 people to Chamber House for a Women in Business breakfast with guest speaker Kate Baker, Project Manager at Monadelphous and founder of new organisation South West Women in Infrastructure, Mining & Minerals.
Kate shared her formative years being an inquisitive child asking her Dad, also an engineer, how anything and everything worked. It came as no surprise that her enquiring mind led to a passion for engineering. After four years of study her degree took her all over the Pilbara, and then eventually back home to Bunbury. She shared her insights as a working mother, a female leader within the mining industry, the importance of role models, community, mentorship, and providing support for one another. We thank Kate for sharing her story with us this morning.
CEO Julie Broad acknowledged the two men in the room who attended to support their teams and to demonstrate their commitment to supporting for women in the workplace.
A fabulous morning with many new connections made. We look forward to our next Women in Business event in November!
