Kaya,
I had hoped by now I would be able to say that businesses are starting to return to normal and the worst of COVID is behind us. While I’m sure that is true for some businesses in our community, it is certainly not true for all. June saw the Chamber further exposed to COVID, both with the postponement of our South West Future Jobs and Skills - Innovation and Technology Virtual Conference (new date 22 September) and our Marketing and Events Coordinator coming down with COVID.
Many of our member businesses are reporting their second or third wave of COVID going through their workplace. There are increasing COVID numbers in our community. With the rising case numbers, the SW Leaders Mentor Program Launch scheduled for the 20 July is another example of a larger event that was required to be moved to online to reduce participant exposure.
While the government have not reimposed restrictions or mask requirements, there is an argument for businesses putting in place some of these measures to protect themselves. To protect our staff, the Chamber has elected to wear masks while in common areas of Chamber House while there are visitors in our office. We have again reduced our room capacity sizes in line with previous Level 2 mandates. We have also decided to move a number of our bigger events to online,(with the exception of Business After Hours Events which can be held outside).
Thank you to the team at Europcar for hosting our June Business After Hours event and our Gold Media Partner Triple M for their ongoing sponsorship and support. The energy and vibrancy of the June event was fantastic to be a part of with great networking, presentations and giveaways!
Next Business After Hours Event - 27 July - Bunbury Senior High School Business After Hours - Members Only Sundowner 5.00pm – 7.00pm
